Privacy Policy and Information Notice

In short
TrackYourself is a free calorie and water tracking app. The app shows ads.
You do not need an account. We do not run a server; your records stay on your phone.
Data kept on your phone
Your profile details (sex, age, height, weight, activity level, goal) and your meal, water and weight records are stored only in the local database on your phone.
This data is not sent from your phone to us or to anyone else.
Backups: on Android, app data is not included in cloud backups. On iPhone, the data may be included in your own device backup (iCloud or iTunes). That backup stays in your own account; we cannot access it.
Apple Health and Health Connect
Only if you allow it, we read active energy data from Apple Health (iPhone) or Health Connect (Android). We never write to this data.
The data we read is used only to calculate your daily calorie budget and never leaves your device.
Health data is not used for advertising or marketing, and no health or nutrition data is added to ad requests.
You can turn off this permission at any time in your phone's health settings.
Barcode scanning
When you scan a barcode, only the barcode number is sent to Open Food Facts to look up the product.
Camera images are not saved or sent. The Open Food Facts privacy terms also apply.
Ads
The app shows Google AdMob ads. The ad SDK may collect device identifiers, such as the advertising ID, and approximate location.
No health or nutrition data is ever passed to the ad SDK.
In the EU and the UK, a Google UMP consent form is shown. On iPhone, the app asks for your tracking permission (ATT).
If you do not consent or decline the permission, you will see non-personalized ads.
Notifications
Morning message, water and evening reminders are scheduled locally on your phone. There are no push notifications from a server.
Exporting and deleting your data
In Settings, you can export your records as a CSV file. The exported file is deleted from your device after you share it.
The "Delete all data" option in Settings removes all records in the app. This cannot be undone.
If you delete the app from your phone, the app data is deleted too.
Children
TrackYourself is not directed at children under 16.
A weight loss goal is not recommended for people under 18. Users in this age group should speak with a doctor or dietitian.
Not medical advice
TrackYourself does not provide medical advice and does not diagnose or treat any condition.
Calorie and water targets are estimates based on the information you enter. Weight change varies from person to person, and the app does not promise specific results.
Please speak with a health professional before making decisions about your health.
Nutrition data
For the nutrition values of foods, we use the USDA FoodData Central database of the United States Department of Agriculture as a source. This data is public domain (CC0).
Values without a stated source, or labelled "approximate", are approximate values. They may be based on a similar type of food, a recipe calculation or an average. Actual values vary with cooking method, brand and season.
Nutrition values are for information only and do not replace medical or nutritional advice.
Packaged product data comes from Open Food Facts and is licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL). It may differ from the information on the product.
Information notice for EU and UK users (GDPR)
Users in the EU and the UK have the right to access, correct, delete, object to processing, port their data, and withdraw consent.
Because your data is on your device, you can access, correct, export and delete it from within the app. To change or withdraw your ad consent, go to Settings → "Ad privacy choices" (visible only in the EU and the UK). Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it.
Some data may be transferred outside the EU and the UK. The Google AdMob ad SDK may transfer limited data, such as your device identifier and approximate location, to countries outside the EU and the UK. When you scan a barcode, only the barcode number is sent to Open Food Facts.
If you have a complaint, you can contact the data protection authority in your country.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, it will be updated in the app and the update date will be shown at the top.
